Iceland from the UAE: quick guide

Iceland is best for travellers who want dramatic nature rather than a city break: waterfalls, black-sand coastlines, geothermal landscapes and road-trip scenery are the core experience.

For UAE travellers: plan fewer stops per day than you would in mainland Europe, especially in winter. Weather, daylight and road conditions can change the practical route quickly.

Entry for UAE travellers — reviewed 30 August 2026: UAE passport holders are currently visa-exempt for short Schengen visits, including Iceland, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. ETIAS is not yet operating; the EU says its exact launch date will be announced before it starts. UAE residents travelling on other passports must check the rule for their own nationality, because UAE residence alone does not determine visa eligibility.

Border procedure: the Schengen Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully operational since 10 April 2026 for applicable non-EU short-stay travellers.
