Start early and use the official window

A sensible timeline

Four to six months before travel

Choose the route, identify the responsible consulate and read its current checklist. Start monitoring appointments. Check passport and UAE residence validity.

Two to four months before travel

Secure the appointment where possible. Build a coherent itinerary with consistent flights, hotels, internal transport and leave dates. Prefer flexible booking conditions.

Two to six weeks before the appointment

Prepare statements, employment or sponsorship evidence, insurance, photographs and required translations. Do not rely on an old checklist.

After submission

Track only through the authorised channel. Keep bookings changeable until the passport returns and inspect the visa’s dates, entries and permitted stay.

Choose the correct country

Apply to the main destination under the applicable rules—usually where you stay longest or where the principal purpose occurs. If stays are equal, first entry may matter. Never create a false itinerary to target a supposedly easier consulate.

Consistency matters
